Hello! It’s been a while since the last time I’ve written up one of these. I had plans to write up some more reviews, but life got in the way. But no worries, I’m back! My newest fry review is of The Rail Burger, in Dublin. Apparently there’s several locations across Ohio, but I went to this location for a Valentine’s dinner with my wife. So, how was it?

Address: 5839 Frantz Rd, Dublin, OH 43016
Cut: Matchstick
Thickness: 1/10
Crispiness: 5/10
Salt/Seasoning: Light salt, no seasoning.
Price: $3.99/serving
First off, they have a choice of at least two types of fries, skinny fries and steak fries. I picked the skinny fries for review today, as I generally prefer a thinner cut to a thicker cut. These fries are about as thin a cut as you can make a french fry. It’s a shoestring cut, but really if anything deserves to be called a matchstick cut, it’s these fries. Fries were served warm and fresh, and I would consider the serving size average for the price. Flavor profile is slightly bland, this is practically inevitable with a cut this thin, and not having any seasoning, but the fries were clearly cooked well, they weren’t overly crisp, which can be a concern with very thin cut fries. Lightly salted, and kind of surprisingly, a little bit of skins present on the corners of the fries, though in this case it doesn’t readily affect the taste. Overall these were very good fries, even if the cut isn’t going to be for everyone.
Oddities Corner:

In addition to the fries, I tried their Housemade Tater Tots. First off, these aren’t really tater tots, not by any reasonable description of tater tots. These are shredded hash browns, molded into a large potato ball, and fried. It certainly is a different take, but these are really good. The outside is super crispy, but the interior is extremely soft and chewy, while still being well cooked. There is also a small amount of seasoning stuck inside, which really brings out an additional flavor profile. There was 4-5 tater tots, at a price of $7.99, so it’s definitely kind of pricey, but the taste is outstanding and the concept is pretty unique. I would definitely recommend these.
