Dad’s Coney’s and Wraps

Hi! Welcome back to a new Tyler’s fry review. For this review, I just went out and picked a local place near where I get all my shopping done. This is Dad’s Coney’s and Wraps, and while they specialize in just that, they also had fries for me to review. So, how were they?

Address: 128 Graceland Blvd, Columbus, OH 43214

Cut: Straight Cut

Thickness: 5/10

Crispiness: 3/10

Salt/Seasoning: Very light salt, visible paprika seasoning.

Price: $4.59/serving.

So, first off. I got these fries take out, almost all of my fries I review I don’t get takeout, unless it’s a true fast food place. This doesn’t exactly fit that, but there was almost no inside seating, so I went the takeout route. It was a pretty average serving size for the fries, perhaps a slight bit on the smaller side. Fries were very hot and fresh, with a durable exterior, a very nice exterior texture, and a flaky interior. The fries have visible paprika on them, but the taste was only noticeable on the most saturated fries. This meant that 80% or more of the fries had no seasoning taste at all, and the salt wasn’t enough to be noticeable either. Other than that, these fries were perfectly serviceable takeout fries, not special, but a solid french fry.

(I didn’t notice until I looked at the photo closely, but there’s one green tinted fry right up close and personal there. That’s unfortunate, especially because it makes the photo look bad, but IIRC it was the only one, and while green tinted potatoes don’t taste good, and aren’t good for you if you have enough, it’s not a particularly big thing having one.)

Cherry Street Diner

Hi guys, welcome back to another fry review! For this review I went to the far south of Columbus to a very small town, Ashville. This is the local diner in this town, Cherry Street Diner. I went here previously several years ago, but was too early in the morning to review the fries. So, after a long time between visits, it was time to finish what I started, and finally get those fries!

Address: 29 Cherry St, Ashville, OH 43103

Cut: Shoestring Cut

Thickness: 2.5/10

Crispiness: 5//10

Salt/Seasoning: Light salt, no seasoning.

Price: $3/serving (two pictured)

So, honestly as fry reviews go this is a pretty basic one. Fries were served very hot and fresh, with light salt and no seasoning. A shoestring cut, visually they’re pretty much McDonald’s fries on a plate. For a diner, at this price, that’s a good thing. Outsides were nice and crispy, with a soft inside. Serving size was very good for the price, just a very large pile of fries on a plate. Again, nothing unusual here, just ordinary shoestring fries cooked extremely hot and to order. Would highly recommend, as food was good and the area is out of the way and quite charming.
